Everyone deserves healthy sleep. We feel passionate about bringing sleep disorder solutions to the Pacific .
We have ongoing projects in multiple Pacific Island nations including Tonga, The Cook Islands and Tuvalu. We continue to expand with prospective projects in The Solomon Islands and Samoa.
We continue to provide remote support to local healthcare teams to help with complex decisions in patient care, as well as to further develop care for sleep disorders in their nation.
Cook Islands
We have been working in the Cook Islands since 2023, after we were approached by Dr Koko Lwin during the Pasifika Medical Association Conference.
We have arranged for diagnostic Apnealink devices to be delivered and training provided how to use them to diagnose sleep disorders. We also arranged the donation of CPAP and non-invasive ventilation devices and associated equipment.
We have visited in February 2025 and April 2026, conducting in-person training of local healthcare staff and seeing many patients, some who had come from distant islands in daily clinics.
Rarotonga hospital now has a thriving sleep service, diagnosing and treating many new patients each month.
We are providing ongoing clinical and logistical support for the local team.
Tonga
We have been supporting care for sleep disorders in Tonga since 2023 . We have conducted multiple visits to provide education, training and clinical support. We have provided diagnostic equipment for sleep studies, initially the Embletta portable sleep study and now the Apnealink device. We have arranged donations of (insert number) CPAP and non-invasive ventilation devices.
We have also provided financial and logistical support for a local doctor to attend the Sleep Down Under Conference in 2025 and to participate the the University of Sydney Fundamentals of Sleep Course in 2023.
In early 2026 we were delighted to hear that AusAid funding had been utilised to purchase more equipment for the thriving sleep service in Vaiola Hospital
Tonga has a special place in our heart since Amy visitted as a medical student in 1996 .
Fiji
We helped provide training for the next generation of specialist doctors in the pacific. We delivered post-graduate education in respiratory and sleep medicine for the Fiji National University diploma and masters courses in May 2026. Training in bronchoscopy was also provided for staff.
Additionally, we arranged a number of sleep studies and facilitated treatment for patients admitted to Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Suva.
We will return in 2027 for the next group of doctors, and have forged connections with local public health and medical staff to further develop sleep medicine in Fiji.
Tuvalu
Our first visit to Tuvalu was in November 2025. We delivered diagnostic Apnealink, CPAP and bi-level devices and provided training for local medical and other hospital staff in their use and management of sleep disorders. A number of happy patients are now receiving therapy and feeling much improved. We also provided respiratory medicine education including management of acute respiratory failure and advice on high impact medicines for their pharmacy.
“It is good to have Sleep Medicine in Tonga. It will help them sleep well and CPAP will improve their other health problems”
