Learn more about some of the sleep disorders we deal with and how they are impacting the region.

Sleep Apnoea

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder where the throat muscles intermittently relax and block the airway during sleep.

This causes breathing to repeatedly stop and start, leading to disrupted sleep and reduced oxygen levels in the blood. Symptoms often include loud snoring, gasping for air during sleep, daytime tiredness, and difficulty concentrating.

Untreated OSA can increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and other health problems.

“Dear Dr Amy , Sister Marie would like to thank you from the bottom of her heart , she is so thankful , she said she had the most beautiful rest she has had in a long time and she is so awake throughout the day .She is so happy , she can now do the Lord’s work awake and not tired . Malo ‘aupito Dr Amy 😍”

CPAP Therapy

CPAP is the treatment for severe OSA Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is a common treatment for people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It uses a machine that blows steady, pressurized air through a mask to keep the airway open during sleep. This stops breathing pauses, helping improve sleep and lower health risks like heart problems and tiredness.

CPAP is usually prescribed after a sleep test confirms OSA. The machines have different mask types, covering the nose, nose and mouth, or using small nasal inserts. A good fit and regular cleaning are important for comfort and effectiveness. Though it might take time to get used to, using CPAP regularly greatly reduces symptoms and improves life quality.

Sleep Study

A simple test called a sleep study is used to diagnose sleep apnoea

We use sleep study kits that can be done at home !

The sleep study kits are portable devices to monitor breathing, oxygen levels, heart rate, and breathing effort.

This method is easier and less disruptive than lab tests, letting patients sleep in their normal setting.
